meebo - gives you a multi-protocol instant messaging application for the iPhone. meebo is item three in the third ‘web’ web row at Best Phone Apps. Reports differ on the usability of meebo on the iPhone, and all we know is that it works with iPhoney. The meebo about page says:

meebo.com is a website for instant messaging from absolutely anywhere. Whether you’re at home, on campus, at work, or traveling foreign lands, hop over to meebo.com on any computer to access all of your buddies (on AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, Google Talk, ICQ and Jabber) and chat with them, no downloads or installs required, for free!.

iPhone compatibility uncertain.

Google Reader - gives you a good RSS application for the iPhone. The Google Reader Mobile version is item two in the third ‘web’ web row at Best Phone Apps. The regular version of Google Reader should work just fine, but we prefer to link mobile application versions at Best Phone Apps for those EDGE days when there is no WiFi. The regular version is shown in the picture because the mobile version is just so boring.

i.del.icio.us - puts a simple del.icio.us tag viewer on your iPhone. This application occupies the first spot in the third ‘web’ row at Best Phone Apps. The basic functions include:

This application does not enable you to create new del.icio.us bookmarks.

OneTrip Shopping List - gives you an easy to use and good-looking application to keep track of your items. Developer Neven Mrgan says the application is “small, fast, free”–we like those qualities so OneTrip is item number 3 under the second ‘widget’ row at Best Phone Apps. OneTrip Shopping List categories include:

Gas.app - Find cheap gas—just enter a zip code and Gas.app gives you prices at six local stations with Google Map links. Good application to have on hand, so we put it as item number two in the second ‘widget’ row at Best Phone Apps.

iPhone maps compatibility uncertain.

iPhlickr = iPhone + Flickr. View your own photos using your Flickr username, or view photos from other Flickr users. iPhlickr is a great implementation of one of the most popular sites on the web. This application gets the first spot in the second ‘widget’ row at Best Phone Apps. More information about iPhlickr can be found under about:

Box.net mobile - Free Online File Storage, Internet File Sharing, Content Management, Access Documents & Files Anywhere, Backup Data, Send Files. ‘WebDAV’ and ‘FREE’ make this application indispensable for your iPhone, so we put it on the top ‘work’ row of the Best Phone Apps. We chose to link to the mobile version of the site for speed and ease of use, though the regular site is pictured. The Box.net service comes in three levels discussed in their price plans:

• Lite - 1GB space FREE with 10MB filesize limit, and 10GB/mo. bandwidth limit
• Individual - 5GB space for $7.95/mo. (or $79.95/yr.) with 1GB filesize limit, and unlimited bandwidth
• Business - 15GB space for $19.95/mo. (or $199.95/yr.) with 1GB filesize limit, unlimited bandwidth, and 20 sub-accounts

Update July 9, 2007: Mini Zoho Show is optimized for the iPhone, as are all the other Zoho applications at the same link. The Zoho apps may eventually take the top spot on the Best Phone Apps home page from Google Docs, but for now we’ll keep both and use the Mini Zoho link.

Zoho Show lets you create and share presentations online. Until PowerPoint or Google make a better presenter for the iPhone, Zoho Show gets the second spot of the ‘work’ row on Best Phone Apps. The full service is decribed on the Zoho Show home page:

Google Docs & Spreadsheets allows you to read and edit documents and spreadsheets in a variety of formats. Until Word and Excel come to the iPhone, Google has the next best thing for free. Docs and Sheets gets the first spot in the top ‘work’ row of the Best Phone Apps. More information from the Google Help Center:
